It has been a year like no other. Businesses and employees throughout the Forest City have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
London Food Bank
The Covid-19 pandemic may have changed how we interact with each other in 2020, but it hasn’t changed the fact that many Londoners find themselves in need. The Business Cares Food Drive is set to kick off its annual campaign -- even if things may look a little different this year.
These are the times when community matters most. With the COVID-19 pandemic response creating so much uncertainty, Business Cares has been asked to assist with the London and Area Food Bank’s annual Spring Food Drive that runs from April 3 through April 13.
This year, some of London's top accountants competed against each other with a primary goal of collecting cereal for the Business Cares Food Drive. Almost one month later, the competition has added up to an incredible 972 boxes of cereal, $4,525 in cash donations, and over 2,000 other items donated to this year's Business Cares Food Drive.
Participating firms included Blue Caribou Chartered Accountants, Davis Martindale, Furlonger Associates Professional Corporation, Marcus & Associates, MNP LLP, and PWC.
Though the colder weather may still be a few weeks away, there's no better time than now to start getting into the spirit of giving! The Business Cares Food Drive, in support of the London & Area Food Bank is gearing up for what we know will be another successful campaign thanks to the generosity of Londoners and London businesses.
This year's campaign official kicks off on Nov. 29, 2019 with a ceremony at Western University's London Hall. The campaign runs through Dec. 20. And we wanted to reach out to you today to ask you to start planning your support.
'Tis almost the season! But there's no need to wait to support the 2018 Business Cares Food Drive.
We're only a couple of weeks away from our official Business Cares 2018 kickoff. Our committee has been meeting for just over a month now and there are some exciting events coming up.
The Business Cares Food Drive is heading into the home stretch and we're kicking off the final weekend with a couple of amazing events!
It's Bell Media's Day of Giving and the team from CJBK will be on hand until 3 p.m. today at the Covent Garden Market, as Al Coombs interviews members of the Business Cares Food Drive commitee and the London Food Bank. You can come down to the market, say hi to Al, and feel free to donate non-perishable food items or canned goods on site!
When you donate to the London Food Bank, you're supporting more than just the Food Bank itself and the 3,528 families per month, on average, who come to it for assistance. You're supporting over 25 social agencies throughout London that work to make a difference in the community.
The London Food Bank supports a number of programs, including:
We are pleased to announce that as of campaign's end this morning, the Business Cares Food Drive has collected over 307,800 pounds worth of food and cash donations in support of the London Food Bank.
We want to thank all the businesses who stepped up, joined the campaign, and encouraged Londoners to donate.
We want to thank all Londoners who gave so generously and so often to help those who need it most.
And we want to thank all of our partners who helped provide venues and opportunities for people to participate in the campaign.
Taking Care of Business Means Taking Care of People
Though measures to fight Covid-19 have kept us farther apart, this year the need for us to come "together" to support those in need is more prominent than ever. This year's campaign may be more virtual, but the need is very much real. Learn how you can donate to the cause.
